I was very impressed with the overall quality of the bicycle. My only complaint is with the lack of specific assembly instructions for the model purchased. The comprehensive generic instructions in the supplied manuals were too cumbersome and time consuming. After all, why should I care about how to assemble a 27 speed racing bike when I just want to assemble my 4yr. old granddaughters bike with training wheels?
Finally, what helped the most was just using the advertising picture of the model I purchased. Though, I never could figure out how to attach the supplied front reflector. But, since the picture didn't have it either, I figured they had the same problem. Now, to end this on a positive note, I was very impressed with the quality and would recommend (pre-assembled of course.)

I bought the ByK E350 for my nephew, who LOVES how light it is. And even though it is not the lightest bike available to him (weighing 17+ lbs), it is easily $280 USD less than anything lighter (the lightest I found for his specs was 14+ lbs). I knew my nephew could easily handle the extra 3 lbs, as he was already putting around on a Schwinn tank, so I got to save $280 which is going towards his next bike.

In addition to the much reduced weight, the geometry on the E350 is exceptional!! The longer wheel base, larger tires and broader handlebars make for a more forgiving learning experience. My nephew now recovers from obstacles leaping in and around him quite easily, and hasn't slipped on the E350 yet--even when riding through the occasional mud patch (which the bike is not really intended for). And because the E350's frame and top bar sits so low, going from his 16" Schwinn to an 18" E350 actually allows him to hop on/off his bike with much more ease and confidence. To illustrate just how much lower the E350 frame sits, I had to trim the kickstand he had on the Schwinn by over 1.5" to properly rest the E350.

The components are also well thought out too. The front brakes are generic side pull calipers, whereas the rear brakes are Tektro v-type brakes. My guess is this puts added stopping power where you need it most and less where it could do the most harm. There are also fewer spokes on the front tire and a standard number of spokes in the rear. Fewer spokes reduce the weight of the bike, and is consistent with what most premium kids bikes ($300+) are doing. The hand grips are durable and grippy--an upgrade when compared to store bought kids bikes and most kids bikes from chain bike shops in my opinion. And the bell is an adequate and applauded standard feature.

The one thing I wish the manufacturer had upgraded I can easily do myself. Tektro brake levers would be smoother than the generic ones the E350 come with. However, I can appreciate not having th...
